Citizens Advice North Nottinghamshire is seeking a caseworker to join the Welfare Benefit Team. This is a hybrid role with roughly 50% office time, mainly in Mansfield, Worksop and Retford.

You will meet clients face-to-face, by telephone or email, providing high-quality welfare benefit advice and budgeting guidance. We welcome applications from people with or without a welfare benefits background; the priority is strong customer service experience and the ability to handle sensitive situations

Qualifications

• Willingness to work across Mansfield, Worksop and Retford offices.

Job description

We are looking for a caseworker to join our Welfare Benefit Team at Citizens Advice North Nottinghamshire. This is a hybrid role, but the in office portion will mostly take place at our Mansfield offices.

The team does incredible work, determining if people are eligible for benefits, applying, challenging and appealing decisions. In these difficult times, the role has never been more important, nor had the potential for such a positive and essential impact upon people’s lives.

We would be delighted to receive applications from people with or without a welfare benefit background. More important is your experience of customer service, and an ability to deal empathetically and professionally with clients.

Citizens Advice North Nottinghamshire is an organisation typically contacted when a client is at a key decision point of their life. They might be starting a family, have lost their job, dealing with the loss of a loved one or even experiencing the end of a relationship. These changes come with financial complications, and this project’s role is to ease the burden of a client during these incredibly stressful periods of their lives, by giving high quality advice and support on welfare benefits.

The Caseworker’s role will be to help explore a client’s situation, and provide advice on the welfare benefits that might be available to that client and broader budgeting and money saving advice. You will be giving advice face to face in Worksop and Mansfield, by telephone, by email and other emerging contact channels.

We have adopted a hybrid work environment with a requirement for roughly 50% of your time spent in the office. This is likely to be much higher during the initial training and induction period. This post will predominantly be taking clients from Mansfield, and will be required to be present in both Worksop and Mansfield offices regularly.
