Weekend Support Worker

Please Note: Due to the nature of this service, this role is open to women only. This occupational requirement is applied in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 and includes women whose legal gender is female, including those who hold a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC).

SALARY: £17,304 per annum (Actual) + Benefits

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: Saturday and Sunday, 8am–8pm

JOB OVERVIEW

This is a rewarding opportunity for a Weekend Support Worker to help women build confidence, independence and safer futures within a supportive refuge environment.

Working alongside colleagues and partner agencies, the Weekend Support Worker will provide trauma-informed, person-centred support, practical guidance and structured activities.

The Weekend Support Worker will also welcome new residents, complete welfare and building checks, maintain accurate records and respond calmly to challenging situations.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Weekend Support Worker include:

• Resident Support and Relationships: Build positive professional relationships, provide practical and emotional support and encourage independence and confidence
• Activities and Life Skills: Deliver daily living skills, wellbeing, leisure, creative and therapeutic activities
• Resident Induction: Welcome and induct new residents into the service
• Safety and Welfare Checks: Promote a safe, supportive environment and complete regular welfare and building checks
• Records and Confidentiality: Record important information accurately and maintain confidential records
• Crisis and Behaviour Support: Respond calmly to challenging situations and provide appropriate support
• Partnership Working: Work with criminal justice and support agencies to help residents achieve positive outcomes
• Emergency Responsibilities: Act as Fire Warden and First Aider when required

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Essential

• This role is open to women only. This is an occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010 due to the nature and context of the service
• Good literacy and numeracy skills
• Understanding of safeguarding
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Compassionate, empathetic and resilient, with the ability to remain calm under pressure
• Professional approach with appropriate boundaries and sensitivity when handling confidential information
• Organised and able to maintain accurate records
• Able to work the stated weekend pattern and bank holidays where required

Desirable

• Previous experience in residential care, supporting women, criminal justice, behaviour change or housing support
• Previous experience supporting people with multiple or complex needs
• Previous experience facilitating groups or providing one-to-one support
• Previous experience within a women’s refuge or domestic abuse service
• Knowledge of housing pathways and accommodation options for survivors
• Medication experience or training
