Job summary

The Diocese of Westminster in London is seeking a dedicated housing support worker to help ensure the safety and security of guests while overseeing housing matters and contributing to a life-skills program. You will work in a small team and support women with complex needs in a residential setting.

Applicants should have significant experience with vulnerable women, flexibility to work additional hours, and a collaborative approach within the diocesan values of competence, reliability, honesty,

Qualifications

  • Significant experience of working with vulnerable women with high support needs in a residential setting.
  • Experience with survivors of trafficking is preferred.
  • Able to juggle competing demands in a varied, challenging role.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety and security of guests.
  • Support the team with caseload, oversee housing matters, and contribute to life skills programs and workshops.
  • Design and review individual support plans and complete risk assessments.
  • Signpost women to health and wellbeing services and help with holistic recovery.
  • Oversee housing matters including resettlement and access to benefits.
  • Assist guests with asylum, NRM, and criminal justice processes.

Job description

£32,364.92 per annum| Permanent | Fulltime (35 hours per week, usually on a 3-week rolling rota, (8:00-16:00; 9:00-17:00; 14:00- 22:00) for 5 days per week including bank holidays but excluding nights) | Bakhita House, London | Closing date 25 th September | Interview date 7th October

In this role you will primarily ensure the safety and security of our guests.

You will also support the team with the case load, overseeing all aspects of guests’ housing matters and participating in the design of a life skills program and workshops.

Roles and responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
  • To work in a small team sharing responsibility for the case load of each individual woman.
  • To design and review individual support plans. And complete risk assessments
  • To signpost women to health and wellbeing services contributing to a holistic recovery.
  • To oversee all aspects of women’s housing matters including resettlement.
  • To assist women to achieve financial relief through accessing statutory benefit systems and job or volunteering opportunities.
  • To gain access to advocacy services and assist guests with the asylum, National Referral Mechanism (NRM) and criminal justice processes.
What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who is not only competent in support work but who also embodies our diocesan values of Competence, Reliability, Honesty, Perseverance, and Love.

Must have significant experience of working with vulnerable women with high support needs in a residential setting, and/or preferably experience of working with survivors of human trafficking, you will be a great communicator and team player who will thrive on juggling the various competing demands of this varied and challenging role.

Due to the nature of this work, all post-holders will be required to have a flexible approach in terms of working hours and must therefore be willing to work additional hours as required
