Job summary

University of Strathclyde in Glasgow invites applications for a Weekend Library Operations Assistant to support the Library Welcome desk and daily operations.

You will work 18 hours per week with Saturday and Sunday shifts 08:30–17:30 during term time and reduced hours outwith term. Strong customer service and IT literacy are essential.

You will contribute to maintaining facilities, auditing, first-line enquiries, and stock returns with the sorter machine, across teams as needed.

Qualifications

• Good general education to SQA National 5 / Standard Grade or equivalent.
• Ability to work with technology, in particular Microsoft 365 and Library Management Systems.
• Strong customer service and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Staffing the Library Welcome desk.
• Performing a security function.
• Looking after the wellbeing of customers.
• Ensuring library facilities meet customer needs and that furniture and equipment are well-maintained by undertaking audits and fault reporting.
• Supporting customers with first line and directional enquiries at the Welcome Desk.
• Monitoring the return of library stock to the sorter machine.
