Job summary

Richmond upon Thames Libraries are seeking a friendly, reliable Weekend Library Assistant to join our high-performing team. You will deliver frontline customer service, handle loans and returns, and help visitors access resources across our borough libraries.

The role requires working Saturdays 9:30am–4:00pm or Sundays 1:00–5:00pm (1:15–5:15pm variants). It is a permanent, part-time position with a pro rata salary on the SSA Scale 2-3.

Qualifications

• Experience in fast-paced, service-focused environments.
• Team contribution and effective collaboration within a library team.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high service standards.
• Strong customer service skills and resilience in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service.
• Assist with the issue and return of books and other resources.
• Help customers use public computers, e-resources, and self-service kiosks.
