Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a Weekend Facilities Support Assistant at Trinity Square Student Accommodation, Gateshead. This 20-hours-per-week role on Saturdays and Sundays involves maintaining cleanliness, safety, and welcoming environments, with supporting café operations and on-site teams.

The role emphasizes water hygiene, grounds maintenance, waste management, and assisting during student arrivals, with training provided in areas such as water hygiene and food safety.

Qualifications

• Experience in facilities support, caretaking, cleaning or grounds maintenance.
• Proactive, practical approach to work.
• Attention to detail and high standards.
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks.
• Friendly, customer-focused attitude.
• Basic IT skills for records and reporting.
• Able to perform physical duties indoors and outdoors.
• Willingness to undertake training in water hygiene, COSHH and food safety.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled water flushing and maintain compliance records.
• Support water hygiene procedures and report issues promptly.
• Maintain external grounds, courtyards, pathways and communal outdoor areas.
• Litter picking and waste management to keep site presentable.
• Clean and maintain communal internal areas, including corridors and stairs.
• Identify and report defects, hazards and maintenance issues.
• Assist in on-site café operations and maintain hygiene.
• Conduct food safety and temperature checks.
• Assist during student arrivals, departures and busy periods.
• Provide friendly support to students, visitors and contractors.
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver an excellent student experience.
