Job summary

Vita Student in Manchester is seeking a Facilities Assistant to maintain our student residences and support a vibrant community. You’ll walk the building, perform hands-on maintenance, and respond to tickets using our system.

The role is permanent, full-time (42.5 hours per week), with 9am–6pm shifts from Monday to Friday. You’ll tackle day-to-day upkeep, safety checks, and small repairs around bathrooms, lighting, doors, and shared spaces, while collaborating with engineers when more complex

Qualifications

• Hands-on maintenance experience in a building or facilities role.
• Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools.
• Comfortable using a smartphone/tablet to access and update job tickets.
• Willingness to follow health and safety procedures and training.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and maintain bathrooms, lighting, and fixtures; fix or arrange repairs.
• Replace faulty lightbulbs and address simple electrical issues or escalate.
• Repair sticking doors, drawers, and locks as part of daily upkeep.
• Maintain and repair appliances and furniture, coordinating replacements when needed.
• Paint and refresh common areas and touch up scuffed walls as required.
• Respond to student tickets promptly and keep work logs up to date.
