Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a friendly Weekend Customer Services Assistant to support Trinity Square Student Accommodation in Gateshead. You will greet residents, assist with enquiries, assist the on-site café, manage parcels and maintain reception duties across Saturdays and Sundays.

The role is 24 hours per week and requires reliability for fixed weekend shifts. You'll engage with students and visitors, handle welfare concerns, and help create a welcoming community.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer-facing roles such as reception, hospitality or housing.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Confident with Microsoft Office and digital systems.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks.
• Calm and professional approach to challenging situations.
• Friendly, inclusive attitude toward diverse people.
• Reliable with fixed weekend shift pattern.

Responsibilities

• Provide warm, professional reception for students, guests and visitors.
• Handle resident enquiries via face-to-face, email and phone.
• Manage post, parcels, key cards and access control processes.
• Support on-site café operations and maintain cleanliness.
• Record maintenance requests and liaise with teams to resolve issues.
• Conduct building, safety and communal area checks.
• Assist with student arrivals, viewings and events.

What You'll Do:

• Providing a warm, professional reception service for students, guests, contractors and visitors.
• Managing resident enquiries via face-to-face interactions, email and telephone.
• Handling post, parcels, key cards and access control processes.
• Supporting the day-to-day operation of the on-site café, serving customers and maintaining excellent cleanliness standards.
• Recording maintenance requests and liaising with relevant teams to ensure issues are resolved.
• Conducting building, safety and communal area checks.
• Supporting student arrivals, departures, open days and accommodation viewings.
• Responding appropriately to welfare concerns, incidents and emergencies.
• Contributing to resident engagement activities and helping create a welcoming student community.

What You Bring:

• Previous experience in a customer-facing role such as reception, hospitality, retail, accommodation, housing or facilities management.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office, email and digital systems.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
• A calm, professional approach when dealing with challenging situations.
• A friendly, empathetic and inclusive attitude towards people from diverse backgrounds.
• Reliability and commitment to working the fixed weekend shift pattern.

Desirable Experience

• Student accommodation, university, housing or residential services.
• Reception or front-of-house environments.
• Café, hospitality or food service experience.
• Facilities or accommodation management systems.
