Job summary

Kier Design is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the MEICA team in Salford within the water and wastewater sector. You will deliver mechanical designs for complex projects, collaborating with civil, electrical and process engineers to ensure integrated assets and buildable solutions.

Applicants must be Chartered with IET or IMechE, pass BPSS, and have experience in hydraulic design, pumping systems and compliance with SHE requirements.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer with membership of a Professional Body (IET or IMechE)
• Fully competent with extensive experience in water, wastewater or process industries, including hydraulic design and pumping systems
• Experience in problem solving with strong SHE understanding
• Ability to interpret information, data, patterns and trends for decision making
• Must pass BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) requirements

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed mechanical designs for pumping stations, treatment works, and network assets for potable water and wastewater applications
• Agree mechanical design requirements from the client's remit and ensure full understanding
• Provide support for feasibility studies, outline design, production and evaluation of concepts prioritising buildability and efficiency
• Ensure designs comply with UK water industry standards (WIMES), British Standards, Water Regulations, CDM 2015 and client specifications
• Collaborate with civil, electrical and process engineers for integrated asset design
