Job summary

Kier Group’s MEICA team in Salford is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to deliver mechanical design solutions for complex water and wastewater projects. You will join a busy design team that collaborates across civil, electrical and process engineering to meet client requirements.

You will produce detailed designs for pumping stations and treatment works, ensure compliance with WIMES and CDM 2015, and help drive buildability, efficiency and innovation on capital and operational schemes.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer with membership of IET or IMechE.
• Extensive experience in water, wastewater or process industries, including hydraulic design and pumping systems.
• Strong problem solving and decision making with SHE requirements.
• Able to interpret data and trends to make effective decisions.
• Able to pass BPSS requirements.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed mechanical designs for pumping stations, treatment works and network assets for water and wastewater applications.
• Agree mechanical design requirements from the client's remit and ensure full understanding.
• Provide support for feasibility studies, outline design, production and evaluation of concepts focusing on buildability and efficiency.
• Ensure designs comply with UK water industry standards (WIMES), British Standards, Water Regulations and CDM 2015.
• Collaborate with civil, electrical and process engineers to deliver integrated asset design.
