Job summary

Thomson in Leeds seeks a Principal Technical Specialist to lead and grow the Water Team. You will combine technical expertise, team leadership and business development to deliver complex aquatic projects and shape water services.

The role requires guiding colleagues, ensuring compliance, and delivering high-quality environmental outcomes. You will work with clients and teams to provide best-practice advice, oversee budgets, manage reports, and win new work through bids while fostering a culture

Qualifications

• Principal-level experience in environmental consultancy.
• Strong background in aquatic ecology/hydro-ecology.
• Proven experience managing and developing staff.
• Track record of winning work and building client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Water Team with technical delivery and leadership responsibilities.
• Provide guidance on legislation, policy and best practice; review reports and deliverables.
• Oversee budgets, forecasting and financial performance; ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Win new work through bids, tenders and client engagement; build strong client relationships.
