Job summary

Thomson is seeking a Senior Hydrologist/Senior Aquatic Ecologist to lead the Water Team on a semi-remote, full-time basis. You will deliver complex aquatic projects across the UK, combining technical delivery with leadership and business development.

You will mentor colleagues, manage budgets and timelines, ensure compliance with legislation and policy, and build strong client relationships to grow water services and win new work.

Qualifications

• Experience in environmental consultancy.
• Background in aquatic ecology, hydro-ecology or similar.
• Track record of winning work and building client relationships.
• Knowledge of hydro-ecological survey techniques, legislation and policy.
• Experience delivering high-quality reports and assessments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Water Team, including workloads, performance and training.
• Deliver large, complex hydro-ecological projects and provide technical oversight.
• Review and approve technical reports and deliverables; manage budgets and timelines.
• Win new work through bids, tenders and client engagement; maintain client relationships.
• Coordinate field surveys, environmental assessments and reporting for projects.
