Job summary

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water is recruiting a Maintenance Technician - Mechanical Bias in Newport. In this field-based role you will be part of a team delivering planned maintenance on Welsh Water assets, investigating failures, and reacting to operational issues to minimise plant downtime.

The role offers a 37-hour week from Monday to Friday, a standby rota, overtime opportunities, a company vehicle and a competitive benefits package including enhanced pension contributions and 34 days’ annual leave.

Qualifications

• Recognition of Electrical/Mechanical Apprenticeship with NVQ3 or equivalent.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Awareness of DWI and NRW regulatory requirements.
• Health & Safety compliance and safe working practices.
• IT literate with MS Office and operations systems.
• Team player with stakeholder collaboration.
• Analytical mindset to identify issues and resolve.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritise workloads under deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Work on planned maintenance and enhancements on Welsh Water assets.
• Investigate plant failures and perform scheduled maintenance.
• Install refurbishments and assist commissioning to spec.
• Audit spares and order items through supervisor or supplier.
• Follow H&S procedures and duty of care.
• Liaise with outside contractors on capital schemes.
• Organise own time with minimal supervision.
• Undertake other duties to meet business needs.
