Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced Technical Director to lead the environmental planning and assessment elements of major water infrastructure projects. You will direct teams, manage bids, and deliver multi-disciplinary inputs across the project lifecycle, influencing design and outcomes.

You will drive client engagement, bid strategies, and innovative techniques, ensuring high quality, safety, and sustainable design across complex schemes.

Qualifications

• Experience leading environmental assessments for major water schemes.
• Familiar with Habitats Regulations Assessments and WFD Assessments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong report writing.
• Proven people management and team development.
• Strong market and water sector understanding to drive growth.
• Confident engaging with clients, regulators and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental teams and inputs to project designs and assessments.
• Direct recruitment, bidding, project delivery and financial management.
• Win new business and provide thought leadership in the water sector.
• Promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement.
• Build relationships with clients and identify opportunities for resourcing and delivery.
• Lead on development of innovative techniques, e.g. Digital Environmental Impact Assessment.
