Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced Technical Director to join the Infrastructure Planning and Environmental Assessment team. You will lead the delivery of strategic environmental assessments for water sector plans, coordinating cross-disciplinary specialists and engaging clients, regulators and stakeholders.

You will drive recruitment, bidding, project delivery and financial management, expanding the service offering in the water sector and promoting innovative techniques such as

Qualifications

• Experience delivering Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEAs) for water sector plans (WRMPs, DPs, DWMPs).
• Understanding of SEA regulatory requirements, case law and guidance.
• Ability to inform decision-making for water sector plans through environmental assessments.
• Familiarity with HRA, WFD, Natural Capital, Biodiversity Net Gain assessments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong report writing and QA.
• Proven people management and track record of developing internal teams.
• Market and water sector knowledge with ability to drive growth.
• Confident engagement with clients, regulators and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the successful delivery of SEAs and related assessments for water sector plans.
• Direct recruitment, bidding, project team management, project delivery and financial management.
• Grow opportunities and the team, improving client offer and service lines.
• Develop innovative techniques, including Digital SEA, to shape our approach.
• Build relationships with clients and influence strategic decisions across projects.
