Job summary

Wyre Forest District Council is seeking an experienced Waste Manager to lead and develop our waste collection, recycling and disposal services. You will drive safety, efficiency and customer-focused delivery across council operations.

The role requires flexibility for weekends, evenings, bank holidays and on-call cover, plus managing budgets, contracts and performance. Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and IT skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in waste management or similar operations.
• Strong knowledge of waste legislation, environmental compliance, and health and safety.
• Proven experience leading large operational teams.
• Excellent organisation, planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Experience managing budgets, contracts, and service performance.
• Commitment to environmental sustainability and continuous improvement.
• Good IT skills (Microsoft Office and systems).
• Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Driving licence is required.
