Wyre Forest District Council is seeking an experienced Waste Manager to lead and develop our waste collection, recycling and disposal services. You will drive safety, efficiency and customer-focused delivery across council operations.

The role requires flexibility for weekends, evenings, bank holidays and on-call cover, plus managing budgets, contracts and performance. Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and IT skills are essential.

We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and forward-thinking Waste Manager to lead and develop our waste management services. This is an exciting opportunity to take responsibility for the operational delivery of waste collection, recycling, and disposal services, ensuring they are safe, efficient, compliant, and customer-focused.

As Waste Manager, you will play a key role in driving service improvement, developing teams, promoting environmental sustainability, and supporting the delivery of high-quality services to residents and businesses.

This role requires a flexible approach to working hours and participation in an operational rota that includes weekends, evenings, bank holidays, Christmas working, and out-of-hours emergency response.

About You

• Significant experience within waste management, recycling, environmental services, or a similar operational management environment.
• Strong knowledge of waste legislation, environmental compliance, and health and safety requirements.
• Proven experience leading and developing large operational teams.
