Job summary

Wychavon and Malvern Hills District Council is seeking a Refuse and Recycling Team Leader (HGV Refuse Driver) to supervise a collection team in Malvern. The role involves leading operations, managing resources, and ensuring safe, efficient refuse and recycling services in line with Council standards.

The successful candidate will have a valid EU C licence, strong health and safety understanding, and experience in supervising staff, with excellent communication and record-keeping skills.

Qualifications

• Understand Health and Safety legislation and best practice.
• Full, valid EU driving licence (category C).
• Educated in manual handling.
• Flexibility to work additional hours to ensure service delivery.
• Understanding of refuse/recycling collection methods.
• Experience driving class C vehicles.
• Good oral and written communication; ability to produce clear records.
• Ability to maintain high standards of service delivery and health/safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise staff to achieve high levels of performance and productivity.
• Make day-to-day operational decisions to ensure delivery requirements are met.
• Liaise with team members and members of the public.
• Ensure staff carry out duties in line with policies and safe working methods.
