Job summary

Carmarthenshire Council is seeking a skilled Refuse/Recycling Driver to join the Environment – Waste & Environmental Services team in Carmarthenshire. You will safely drive a refuse/recycling collection vehicle, supervise up to three loaders and ensure rounds are completed on time and in line with council procedures.

The role requires a Category C HGV/LGV licence, strong map-reading skills, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather.

Qualifications

• Valid Category C HGV/LGV licence.
• Experience driving refuse/recycling vehicles.
• Ability to supervise a small team of loaders.
• Physically fit for outdoor work in varying weather.
• Strong map-reading and route navigation skills.
• Accurate recording of information and paperwork.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive and operate an allocated refuse/recycling collection vehicle.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects to the supervisor.
• Oversee the collection rounds and supervise up to three loaders.
• Ensure rounds are completed safely, efficiently and on time.
• Maintain accurate records, including timesheets and reports.
