Job summary

Buckinghamshire Council is seeking an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver Team Leader to join the Neighbourhood Services in Aylesbury. You will lead a Waste & Recycling Operatives crew while safely operating a refuse collection vehicle on daily routes.

The role combines driving with leadership responsibilities and requires a valid HGV Class 2 licence and Driver CPC. Immediate start, temporary to permanent, with a supportive team and frontline public service delivery.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 2 licence and Driver CPC.
• Experience driving HGV Class 2 vehicles.
• Experience leading or supervising a small team.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Commitment to health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Safely driving and operating a refuse collection vehicle
• Leading and supporting your collection crew throughout the working day
• Ensuring all work is carried out in line with health and safety procedures
• Monitoring safe working practices and promoting a positive safety culture
• Completing daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects
• Ensuring collections are completed efficiently and on schedule
• Working closely with supervisors and colleagues to resolve any issues on route
• Providing excellent service to local residents and businesses
