We have two fantastic opportunities for talented individuals to join our team in Thatcham as Warehouse Operations Managers—one covering day shifts and one covering nights. In these roles, you will lead teams of warehouse shift managers, section leaders, and operatives, and be accountable for delivering operational objectives across all shifts and changes. You’ll play a key role in supporting the network, helping Gist excel in service while minimising cost risks. As Warehouse Operations Manager, you’ll oversee the warehouse functions of the distribution centre, ensuring customer requirements are met efficiently and cost-effectively.

Interview Process Overview

• Automated Video Interview: Candidates complete a short online video interview via Willo to provide an initial insight into their skills and motivation
• Initial Telephone Interview: A follow-up call with our recruitment team to discuss experience, suitability, and expectations in more detail
• On-site Assessment Day: Selected candidates will attend an in-person assessment day, including interviews & practical exercises

What You’ll Do

• Support shift managers with counselling, coaching and the development of all employees.
• Ensure effective communication within the warehouse teams through meetings, briefings, shift managers, DLCs
• Drive positive change and engage culture, bringing to life the Gist values
• Be responsible for Operational excellence i.e. cost and service delivery including Peak planning/delivery
• Be responsible for overall productivity within the operation, ensure that activities are cost effective and manage levels of manpower and other resources.
• Plan and coordinate detailed operational activities through shift managers, to ensure the required level of service is provided to the customer.
• Manage customer service including escalation to store
• Deliver operational KPIs. Maintain and improve performance levels to maximise efficiency of operation in line with account KPI's.
• Manage the warehouse budget
• Own continuous improvement initiatives and controllable costs

Who You Are

• Thorough knowledge and hands-on experience of a warehouse function within the FMCG Distribution Industry.
• A background operating at a managerial level is a must.
• A passion for encouraging teamwork, focusing on creating an innovative culture where all employees can voice their suggestions and ideas.
• Excellent team management and customer relationship skills.
• An analytical mind-set.
• Flexibility to cover a variety of shift patterns in the future.
• Previous experience working with Trade Unions
