Job summary

Cygnet Acer Clinic in Derbyshire is seeking a professional Ward Manager to lead and inspire the Upper Ward. You will oversee delivery of high-quality care for women with complex mental health needs, working a 40-hour week (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm) on-site at Acer Clinic.

The role requires leadership experience in in-patient settings, strong assessment and recovery-focused care, and the ability to drive improvements in service delivery within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide suggestions, proposals & recommendations to the Hospital Manager for ward development.
• Participate in planned ward visits by professional visitors.
• Initiate and maintain a monitoring system for nursing practice and staff registrations.
• Ensure service delivery is evaluated as patient- and family-centred.
• Advise non-clinical staff on management of patients with mental illness.
• Ensure patient confidentiality and adherence to policies.

We are looking for a professional, confident Ward Manager who can lead, inspire & oversee the delivery of the very best care.

You’ll be working 40 hours a week (Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm on Upper Ward) at Cygnet Acer Clinic.

Cygnet Acer Clinic is a 28 bed service providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for women with personality disorder and complex needs or acute mental health needs.

Upper Ward

Acer Upper is a mental health acute service for women, based at Cygnet Acer Clinic in Derbyshire.

The ward provides assessment and treatment for women experiencing a mental health crisis who require an emergency admission.

Our team works closely and collaboratively with service users, their families and the referrer to provide a seamless pathway from referral to discharge.

Our approach is recovery focused and supported by a comprehensive multidisciplinary team, contributing to shorter lengths of stay.

We also benefit from a highly specialised personality disorder service on site, and can offer a pathway for women that may require an extended therapy programme.

Your day-to-day…

• Provide suggestions, proposals & recommendations to the Hospital Manager aimed at the continued development of the ward
• Contribute & participate in planned visits to the ward by professional visitors
• Initiate & maintain a monitoring system in relation to professional nursing practice at unit level, including pin numbers & the current registration of all qualified staff
• Ensure that the evaluation of service delivery is user (i.e. patient, carer & family) based
• Advise non-clinical staff within the hospital on management of patients with mental illness
• Ensure patients’ rights to confidentiality are respected & that Cygnet Health Care & professional policies are adhered to.
