Job summary

Cygnet Health Care in Oldham is seeking a confident Ward Manager (RMN) to lead and oversee delivery of high‑quality care across Cygnet Kenney House.

You’ll work 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, and be responsible for clinical leadership, governance, auditing staff, and ensuring patient safety and rights, with DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Provide suggestions & recommendations to Hospital Manager for ward development.
• Participate in ward visits by professional visitors.
• Initiate and maintain a monitoring system for nursing practice at unit level.
• Ensure service evaluation is patient and family focused.
• Advise non-clinical staff on management of patients with mental illness.
• Ensure patient confidentiality and adherence to policies.

We are looking for a confident Ward Manager (RMN) who can lead, inspire & oversee the delivery of the very best care.

You’ll be working40 hours a week(Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm) atCygnet Kenney House.

Cygnet Kenney House is our hospital for women, located in Oldham. The services provide a safe and secure care pathway for women with mental health need and are now open.

We have collaborated with the NHS to develop services to support women from the North West to be treated closer to home. There are three wards at Cygnet Kenney House; Billington Ward, a 12 bed specialist Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Baldock Ward, a 16 bed Acute service and Harben Ward, a 16 bed mental health rehabilitation and recovery service.

The PICU and Acute environments offer rapid access to care, supporting women to move quickly and safely through to the most appropriate and least restrictive setting. The mental health rehabilitation and recovery ward (level 2) supports individuals moving on from the Acute ward, as well as external referrals from other services such as secure, CAMHS, and more.

Your day-to-day…

• Provide suggestions, proposals & recommendations to the Hospital Manager aimed at the continued development of the ward
• Contribute & participate in planned visits to the ward by professional visitors
• Initiate & maintain a monitoring system in relation to professional nursing practice at unit level, including pin numbers & the current registration of all qualified staff
• Ensure that the evaluation of service delivery is user (i.e. patient, carer & family) based
• Advise non-clinical staff within the hospital on management of patients with mental illness
• Ensure patients’ rights to confidentiality are respected & that Cygnet Health Care & professional policies are adhered to.
