A veterinary practice in Cardiff is seeking a full-time vet to join their team. The role involves a balanced focus on surgery and medicine, with a well-managed schedule ensuring time for breaks and admin. The successful candidate will enjoy a competitive salary of £37,000 - £45,000, 28 days of paid holiday rising to 33 after two years, private health insurance, and CPD support. Located near Cardiff city center, the practice offers a spacious and modern working environment with excellent support and resources.
We are a busy small animal practice with a clinical team comprising of 5 Vets, 6 RVN’s and 2 student nurses. Our vet and nursing teams both have clinicians who have combined experience exceeding 35 years in the industry and are supported by an exceptional team of 1 ACA, 4 receptionists and practice manager Mei.
This is a balanced role with surgery and medicine and as a solid GP practice we work at a steady pace, with a well‑managed rota and appointments given 15 minutes.
On a standard day, there are 3 vets on with 2 on consults and 1 on ops, with breaks and admin time factored in throughout the day.
We also hold regular practice and clinical meetings and 1:2:1’s, ensuring everyone feels supported in their role.
This is a full‑time position 40 hours a week, 9am‑7pm Monday to Friday with one day off in the week and including just 1 in 4 Saturdays, 9am‑5pm.
Having benefited from an extension 2 years ago, the practice provides a spacious working environment for the whole team including a designated colleague room, 4 consult rooms, 2 operating theatres, dental operating theatre, separate dog and cat wards and office space.
We have all the equipment you’d expect from a thriving GP practice, including a full pneumatic orthopaedic suite, CR30 digital x‑ray system, dental x‑ray, ultrasound scanner, multi‑parameter monitors and much more.
We work a wide range of cases from simple cases to complex surgeries and perform most of the advanced orthopaedic and soft tissues procedures in house including TPLOs and fracture repairs. We’re also planning on moving into laparoscopic procedures in 2026.
