Job summary

Vets Now is seeking a Weekend Veterinary Nurse in Kilmarnock to join our nursing team. The role focuses on triage, surgery, anaesthesia and in-patient care, with opportunities to further ECC knowledge. You will be required to work weekend shifts as described and contribute to high standards of patient care.

RCVS registration for at least six months is required. Benefits include private medical insurance, enhanced sick pay, 7 weeks annual leave (pro rata), a birthday off and a generous CPD

Qualifications

• RCVS registration for a minimum of six months.
• Motivated to maintain high clinic standards.
• Passionate about caring for clients and their pets.
• Experience with an ECC caseload is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Triaging, surgery, anaesthesia and in-patient care as part of the nursing team.
• First Aid – provide advice over the phone and in clinic.
• Critical Care – monitor major body systems, in-patient trends, pain assessment, wound care.

Up to £17ph DOE plus benefits

Working hours:

We have the following options available in our Kilmarnock clinic, please contact me directly to discuss options and working patterns that would work for you:

Week 1: Saturday from 12:00 to 21:00 and Sunday from 10:00 to 20:00

Week 2: Saturday from 21:00 to 09:00 and Sunday from 19:30 to 09:00

Week 3: Saturday from 12:00 to 21:00

Week 4: Off

Plus, a fair share of bank holidays.

Understanding your key role

Our nursing team are at the core of clinical treatment including triage, surgery, anaesthesia, and in-patient care. Key responsibilities will include:

• First Aid – give appropriate advice over the phone and perform in clinic.
• Critical Care – management and monitoring of major body systems, monitoring of in-patient trends and identifying changes quickly, physiotherapy, pain assessment, wound and dressing care.
• Diagnostics – confident to perform basic diagnostic procedures in a sole charge capacity.
