Job summary

Abbeygate Auto Services Ltd. is seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester to join our team on a full-time, in-person basis. You will carry out servicing, diagnostics, and repairs to a high standard, and support customers with clear technical guidance.

Applicants should have strong mechanical knowledge, fault-diagnosis skills, and a current UK driving licence. Experience with brakes, steering, suspension and tyres is preferred. MOT testing licence is a plus.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician or mechanic.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and fault-diagnosis skills.
• Experience servicing and repairing brakes, steering, suspension and tyres.
• Ability to use workshop tools safely.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out vehicle servicing, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs to a consistently high standard.
• Complete work on brakes, steering and suspension components, tyres, clutches, cambelts, and turbochargers.
• Diagnose mechanical faults accurately and recommend appropriate repairs.
• Communicate effectively with the Service team regarding progress, findings, and required work.
• Occasionally speak directly with customers to provide clear, professional technical advice.
• Use power tools, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain high customer-service standards that encourage loyalty and referrals.
• Follow all relevant health, safety, and workshop procedures.

Essential Requirements

• Ability to use workshop tools and equipment safely.
• High standards of workmanship and attention to detail.
• Good communication and customer-service skills.
• A current full UK driving licence.

Preferred Experience

• Experience replacing clutches, cambelts, and turbochargers.
• A current MOT testing licence.
• Previous tyre-fitting experience.
