Job summary

Autotech-Recruit-Limited is representing an established independent automotive business in Somerset seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester to join their busy workshop. The role offers ongoing training, career development, and potential for future ownership opportunities.

You will perform MOT tests to DVSA standards, diagnose faults, service and repair a wide range of vehicles, and maintain high workmanship and safety standards while supporting front-of-house duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician and MOT Tester.
• Recognised automotive qualification or apprenticeship background.
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Professional, friendly, customer-focused approach.
• Full UK driving licence with minimal penalty points.
• Valid MOT Testing Licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out MOT tests in line with DVSA standards.
• Diagnose faults and complete servicing, maintenance, and repair work on a wide range of vehicles.
• Accurately assess vehicle condition, safety, reliability and performance.
• Provide additional workshop support as required.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and health & safety compliance.
• Assist with customer enquiries and front-of-house support.

An established and well-regarded independent automotive business in Somerset is seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester to join its busy and friendly workshop team.

The Role

Reporting directly to the business owner, you will be responsible for:

• Carrying out MOT tests in line with current DVSA standards.
• Diagnosing faults and completing servicing, maintenance, and repair work on a wide range of vehicles.
• Accurately assessing vehicle condition, safety, reliability, and performance.
• Providing additional workshop support as required.
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship while adhering to all health and safety procedures.
• Occasionally assisting with customer enquiries and front-of-house support.

About You

To be considered, you will ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician and MOT Tester.
• A recognised automotive qualification or apprenticeship background.
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
• A professional, friendly, and customer-focused approach.
• A full UK driving licence with minimal penalty points.
• A valid MOT Testing Licence.
