Job summary

Kirklees Metropolitan Council is seeking a Vehicle Technician in Kirklees, West Yorkshire. You will maintain the council's fleet to high standards, inspect HGVs, service vehicles, and support apprentices within a Transport Services team.

Requirements include a Level 3 Certificate in Motor Vehicle Repair, DVSA MOT examiner certification (or willingness to train), a full UK driving licence, and experience with diagnostic software. Role includes out-of-hours rota and good team collaboration.

Responsibilities

About the Role

As a Vehicle Technician, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining Kirklees Council’s fleet to the highest standards. Working within our Transport Services team, you’ll help ensure our vehicles and plant are safe, compliant, and roadworthy.

Key responsibilities include:

About You

We’re looking for someone with the right qualifications and hands-on experience. You’ll need:

• Full UK Driving Licence
• Class C licence (or willingness to train, No cost to you)
• Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Repair qualification (or willingness to train, no cost to you )

• Ability to work part of a team, including standby arrangements, on average 1 week in 6 (extra payment)
• Good literacy, numeracy, and basic IT skills
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
