Kirklees Metropolitan Council is seeking a Vehicle Technician to maintain the fleet to high standards within the Transport Services team. You will ensure safety, compliance and roadworthiness through inspections, servicing and fault diagnosis.

The role involves supporting apprentices, working with diagnostic tools, and keeping electric and hybrid vehicles in optimal condition, with occasional on‑call shifts and competitive pay structures.

Qualifikationen

• Level 3 Certificate in Motor Vehicle Repair or equivalent.
• DVSA MOT examiner certification or willingness to train at no cost.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Class C licence or willingness to train at no cost.
• Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Repair qualification or willingness to train at no cost.
• Experience using diagnostic software.
• Ability to work as part of a team, including standby arrangements (roughly 1 week in 6) with extra payment.
• Good literacy, numeracy and basic IT skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

About the Role

As a Vehicle Technician, you'll play a vital role in maintaining Kirklees Council's fleet to the highest standards. Working within our Transport Services team, you'll help ensure our vehicles and plant are safe, compliant, and roadworthy.

About You

We're looking for someone with the right qualifications and hands‑on experience. You'll need:
