Job summary

Royal Mail in Oban is recruiting a Level 3 qualified Vehicle Technician on a permanent contract, working 39.5 hours per week from 07:00 to 15:30, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday work. You will service a mixed fleet of vans, LDVs and HGVs, performing inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs using your own toolkit and the workshop’s specialist tooling.

The role offers a salary of £40,906 per year, a generous pension, holiday entitlement, training plans and exclusive employee

Qualifications

• Qualified mechanic: you’re fully qualified to an advanced level (Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You’ve got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
• Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV
• MOT Tester qualification would be advantageous; however, applications are welcomed from candidates who do not currently hold this qualification
• Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence
• High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
• Flexible to service demands: you’re able to work on a flexible shift rota. You’re always willing to support your team where necessary.

Responsibilities

• You’ll perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.
• You’ll use your own personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair light / heavy goods vehicles.
• You’ll also have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern, fully equipped workshops.

Working Hours:

Full time - 39.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks). Working 07:00 until 15:30 Monday to Friday. Occasional Saturday working may be required to support business needs during busy periods.
