Job summary

Royal Mail is recruiting a Vehicle Technician for the Oban Workshop on a permanent contract. The role involves performing inspections, diagnostics and repairs on a diverse fleet including light and heavy vehicles, using your own toolkit and workshop resources.

We require an advanced Level 3 qualification in light or heavy vehicles, a full UK driving licence, and a flexible approach to shift patterns. Training and development opportunities are provided as part of a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Advanced Level 3 qualification in Light or Heavy vehicle.
• Proven Vehicle Technician experience on a wide range of vehicles.
• MOT Tester qualification would be advantageous.
• Full manual UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Perform full range inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.
• Use your personal toolkit for routine maintenance and repairs on light and heavy vehicles.
• Access specialist tooling and shared equipment in a modern, fully equipped workshop.

We’re recruiting a Level 3 qualified mechanic atOban Workshop on a Permanent contract.

Working Hours: Full time

• 39.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks). Working 07:00 until 15:30 Monday to Friday.Occasional Saturday working may be required to support business needs during busy periods.

• You’ll perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.
• You’ll use your own personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair light / heavy goods vehicles.
• You’ll also have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern, fully equipped workshops.

A bit about you

• Qualified mechanic: you’re fully qualified to an advanced level (Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You’ve got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
• Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV
• MOT Tester qualification would be advantageous; however, applications are welcomed from candidates who do not currently hold this qualification
• Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence
• High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
• Flexible to service demands: you’re able to work on a flexible shift rota. You’re always willing to support your team where necessary.
