Job summary

Workchain is recruiting for a Vehicle Technician in Ipswich to service, maintain and repair vans and light commercial vehicles. The role involves diagnostics, fault finding and preparing vehicles for MOT testing, with a focus on quality workmanship and customer service.

The candidate will join a busy workshop, with manufacturer and in-house training, coaching and clear opportunities for career progression. An on-site role with overtime opportunities and a company pension scheme is offered.

Qualifications

• Qualified Vehicle Technician or equivalent with UK driving licence.
• Apprentice trained or equivalent qualifications preferred.
• Minimum five years' relevant industry experience.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair vans and light commercial vehicles.
• Carry out servicing, inspections and planned maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair faults across a range of vehicles.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and complete job cards.
• Work with service and parts teams to ensure efficient workflow.

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established, family-owned commercial vehicle specialist with a strong reputation for specialising in commercial vehicle maintenance and fleet support. Following continued growth and investment, they are looking to strengthen their team at their modern workshop facility in Ipswich.

The Role

Working within a busy and professional workshop environment, you'll be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing vans and light commercial vehicles, ensuring the highest standards of workmanship and customer service.

Key responsibilities include:

• Carrying out vehicle servicing, inspections and planned maintenance
• Diagnosing and repairing faults across a range of vans and light commercial vehicles
• Preparing vehicles for MOT testing
• Using diagnostic equipment and interpreting technical information
• Completing repairs in line with manufacturer standards and procedures
• Working closely with service and parts teams to ensure efficient workflow
• Accurately completing job cards and associated documentation
• Maintaining a safe, organised and professional workshop environment

What We're Looking For

• Qualified Vehicle Technician, Van Technician, LCV Technician or similar
• Apprentice trained or equivalent qualifications preferred
• Alternatively, a minimum of five years' relevant industry experience
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities
• Excellent attention to detail
• Positive attitude and team-focused approach
• Reliable, professional and eager to develop new skills
• Full UK Driving Licence
