Job summary

Halfords, the UK's leading motoring and cycling specialist, is seeking a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic. You will service, diagnose and repair vehicles, handling tasks from routine maintenance to complex replacements and diagnostics.

Applicants should hold Level 3 LV Maintenance & Repair (or time served), have a clean full UK driving licence, and demonstrated experience with brakes, steering and electrical systems. Hybrid training and ATA/MOT qualifications supported.

Qualifications

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or time served experience.
• Must hold a full driving licence with no more than 9 points.
• Experience in diagnostic work (brakes, steering/suspension, engines) and complex repairs.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, repair and replacement work.
• Perform diagnostics and quality checks on vehicles.
• Handle complex repairs (clutch, timing belt, electrics, head gasket) and safety-critical tasks.

Job description

• On-target earnings up to £40,600.
• Comprising a base salary of up to £34,000.
• An uncapped monthly bonus scheme with average additional earnings of £6,600 per year.

As a Vehicle Technician/ Mechanic, you will be already skilled in servicing and repair/replacement work. You'll have the ability to carry out more complex tasks such as clutches and timing belt replacements and diagnostics in areas such as vehicle electrics, brake steering and suspension systems.

Skills and experience

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent OR time served experience
• Must have a full drivers licence with no more than 9 points
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work (brakes, steering/suspension, engine) and more complex repair and replacements (coolant/diesel injectors, head gasket, brakes, electrical)
