Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. in Wellingborough is seeking an unqualified English teacher to join a secondary school for a long-term placement starting October 2026. The position is full-time, based in Wellingborough, with a daily rate of £100-£160.

This role offers ongoing support from experienced English staff and a pathway toward teacher training through PGCE/SCITT or apprenticeship routes, with potential to become permanent following a successful placement.

Qualifications

• A degree in English or strong English subject knowledge.
• Experience working with young people is advantageous but not essential.
• Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or is willing to apply for one.

Responsibilities

• Deliver structured English lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
• Support literacy, reading, writing and analytical skills.
• Encourage engagement with texts and build English confidence.
• Create a focused, positive classroom environment.
• Adapt teaching to different abilities and needs.
• Collaborate with experienced teachers to develop practice.
• Support students’ progress with guidance.
• Assist with activities, assessments and resources.
• Contribute to the English department and school community.
• Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures.

The Role

About You

• A degree in English, English Literature or a related subject, or strong English subject knowledge
• Experience working with young people is advantageous but not essential
