Experience in an Underwriting Assistant role. Ideally educated to A Level standard (or higher). High level of numeracy and literacy skills. Methodical, accurate, and strong attention to detail. Strong organisational and prioritisation skills. Confident using Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. Able to work to tight deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at various levels, both verbally and in writing. Outcome-focused, self-motivated, flexible, and enthusiastic. Ability to work within and promote a diverse and inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

The Senior Underwriting Assistant is expected to provide administrative and operational support to the underwriting division, ensuring efficient administrative processes to serve both internal teams and external clients. The role involves managing a team of offshore resources, overseeing risk entry activities, and supporting multiple classes of business. Specific responsibilities include:

  1. Scaling up, training, and managing an outsourced processing team, including query resolution and adherence to KPIs, ensuring high internal customer satisfaction.
  2. Training and coordinating risk entry activities for a growing team of E&S Underwriting Assistants, ensuring consistency and best practices, with reporting lines directly into the US-based Underwriting teams.
  3. Controlling risk data entry, ensuring accurate and up-to-date risk information, appropriate electronic filing, and obtaining additional information as needed.
  4. Managing document storage appropriately.
  5. Ensuring compliance with external and internal policies, procedures, regulations, standards, and market practices.
  6. Monitoring income, handling late payments and renewals, and preparing relevant statistics and reports.
  7. Supporting Due Diligence processes.
  8. Assisting with policy document generation.
  9. Providing operational support for Peer Review.
  10. Preparing account analyses and reports.
  11. Supporting Delegated Underwriting processes.
  12. Liaising with Exposure Management.
  13. Chasing renewals.
  14. Conducting research and process improvements.
  15. Providing ad hoc support to the Underwriting Operations Manager as required.
