VWFS UK is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join the Legal & Compliance Team. You will advise on UK data protection laws, maintain ROPAs, and lead DPIAs and breach response.

You will engage with regulators, DSARs, and stakeholders to ensure compliant operations and continuous privacy improvements. The role focuses on regulatory compliance, risk management, and collaboration across the business to protect personal data and support governance in a dynamic financial services

Qualifications

• Proven experience providing data protection advice within Compliance or Legal functions.
• Strong knowledge of ICO guidance, codes and regulatory expectations in consumer credit or retail banking.
• Ability to manage complex, time-sensitive workloads with precision and professionalism.
• Skilled in researching, analysing and presenting complex regulatory information.
• Comfortable challenging views and interpreting regulatory guidance accurately.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsabilités

• Provide expert guidance on UK Data Protection laws and regulatory changes to the business.
• Maintain Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Lead the assessment, oversight and reporting of personal data breaches and MI to senior forums.
• Act as a key contact for DSARs, complaints and litigation related to data protection.
• Develop and execute second-line monitoring to assess compliance and improve processes.
• Liaise with the ICO on complaints and regulatory enquiries and ensure robust investigations.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance to resolve privacy-related issues across the business.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data protection and operational efficiency.
