Job description

Job Description:

Our Team: Welcome to the Audi F1 Project.

Audi will be competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026.

The new team has three locations: the Motorsport Competence Center of Audi in Neuburg (Germany), one of the most modern of its kind in Europe; the Sauber Group's Formula 1 factory in Hinwil (Switzerland), known for its innovative technologies; and the Sauber Motorsport Technical Center in the UK, operational this year. Our Power Unit is developed in Neuburg, while Hinwil focuses on chassis development and race operations.

What you need: The mindset of an athlete—resilience and determination. If giving up isn't an option for you and challenges are opportunities to overcome, join us and bring Vorsprung durch Technik to Formula 1. Be part of this unique project and make motorsport history.

Position Details:

The position is based at Audi Formula Racing GmbH in Neuburg, Germany.

In internal combustion engine development, you will work on the combustion process and calibration of a high-performance powertrain. Your goal is to optimize engine performance and efficiency, focusing on combustion processes, turbocharging, and calibration, while ensuring reliability. Responsibilities include development during concept, design, commissioning, and testing phases.

Your Mission:
  • Develop combustion process and gas-exchange via 3D-CFD simulations.
  • Conduct thermodynamic development of the engine's gas-exchange, combustion phase, and flow simulation of intake and exhaust systems.
  • Plan, perform, and evaluate 3D CFD simulations with proper reporting.
  • Create correlations with measurement data from engine tests and testbenches.
  • Improve workflows and toolchains for simulation and test data correlation.
Your Profile:
  • Technical degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, fluid mechanics (bachelor's, master's, Diplom, or Dr.-Ing.).
  • Several years of experience in internal combustion engine development with 3D CFD simulation.
  • Broad knowledge of engine technology and virtual development tool chains.
  • Experience with data handling from testbenches.
  • Strong teamwork, organizational skills, and responsibility.
  • Independent and precise working style.
  • Proficiency in German or English, with willingness to learn the other language.
