Job summary

A leading construction recruitment firm is seeking Tunneling Site and Section Engineers for a major civil engineering project in South East London. Candidates should have relevant tunneling experience, qualifications in Civil Engineering, and ideally background in heavy civils projects. Responsibilities include supporting project managers, producing reports, coordinating site operations, and ensuring health and safety adherence.

  • Support the Agent and Project Managers in delivery of sites.
  • Produce detailed reports and provide technical information.
  • Coordinate site investigation works and planning.
  • Schedule materials for ordering.
  • Organize site operations according to the program.
  • Liaise with consultants and subcontractors.
  • Monitor site operatives and subcontractors.
  • Ensure health and safety compliance.

Tunnelling Site and Section Engineers

Salary: £40,000 to £50,000

Location: South East London

We have an exciting opportunity to work on a Large Major Civil Engineering project for a Tier 1 Contractor leading the £1.9bn project.

This construction programme started in March and the latest phase of the £1bn LPT2 project which will see 32.5km of tunnel built to house electricity transmission cables 30 metres underground. The new cables will replace three circuits that currently run under the surface of roads between Wimbledon in the southwest to Crayford in the southeast.

To be suitable for the position you must have;

  • Tunneling, TBM and/or Shaft project experience with a contractor.
  • Relevant Qualifications in Civil Engineering
  • Worked on heavy civils projects in Rail, Civils, Highways or Power sectors

Although not essential it would also be advantageous if you have;

  • HNC / HND or degree in Civil engineering, Mining or Tunneling

Role Information;

As part of the Engineering team, the Section Engineers & Site Engineers will support the Agent and Project Managers and contribute to the delivery of one or more sites within the project.

Other responsibilities will include;

  • Producing detailed reports and providing technical information.
  • Coordinating and supervising site investigation works and planning.
  • Surveying and setting out.
  • Scheduling materials for ordering.
  • Organising site operations in accordance with the agreed programme.
  • Liaising with consultants and subcontractors.
  • Monitoring the work of site operatives and subcontractors.
  • Ensuring adherence of health and safety requirements.
  • Arranging testing of materials.
  • Resolving any technical problems that may arise
