Position
This post is a 0.8 WTE ST3+ level Trust Grade Registrar within Plastic Surgery offered on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract to cover a rotation gap.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support for safe, timely discharge of patients and support junior members of the medical team.
- Offer support when needed for the care of patients with emergency admissions or day attenders during office hours.
- Act as a point of escalation when junior doctors require senior advice.
- Provide Plastic Surgery services at the University Hospitals of Leicester through outpatient clinics and procedure lists, including peripheral units.
- Work flexibly and cooperatively with colleagues to maximise utilisation of outpatient procedure lists and clinics.
- Participate in the non‑resident on‑call rota including weekends and bank holidays.
- Ensure the provision of good standards of practice and care as described in GMC Guidance 'Duties of a Doctor', and report any bad practice.
- Cover for colleagues’ annual leave and other authorised absences where job plans allow.
- Participate in service development and business planning in collaboration with consultants, CMG, local GPs and commissioners.
- Exercise professional supervision and management of junior medical staff, observing local employment and human‑resource policies and procedures.
- Participate in medical audit, the Trust’s Clinical Governance processes and in CPD; attendance at audit and other governance meetings is mandatory.
- Respond in a timely fashion to legitimate requests from Trust officers, including investigations of incidents or complaints.
- Participate in professional continuing medical education; study leave is provided for this purpose.
