A healthcare provider in Plymouth is seeking a Research Registrar to assist with ongoing research projects and develop surgical experience. The role includes engaging in research up to MD level and participating in undergraduate teaching. The position offers workload flexibility and is part of a dynamic surgical department. Job summary: The appointee will help with ongoing research projects and work on a research proposal leading to an MD or PhD. The HPB unit works closely with the University of Plymouth with opportunities to work on lab-based research. The post is funded by the GI directorate and involves a regular weekly after-hours on-call commitment shared with other research registrars. The post holder will be part of the surgical department within the GI, surgery and all clinical work will take place at Derriford Hospital. There is an on-call commitment during day/nights/weekends.
Main duties include receiving close supervision, mentorship and research training, with opportunities to develop teaching skills within the department and through the undergraduate teaching programme. OG Surgery service at University Hospital Plymouth collaborates with the University of Plymouth Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and provides extensive teaching for medical students.
