Job summary

A local government authority in Radford Semele is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join their Arboricultural team. About the role

Do you care about trees and want to help protect and improve Warwickshire's green infrastructure? Warwickshire County Council manages over 350,000 trees located in rural and urban areas locations such as parks, open spaces, highways, woodlands, rural farms and properties. We have a dedicated tree management system that continues to grow as we inspect and increase the tree population through our tree planting programmes. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to help increase and maintain the database through inspections. You will be part of the diverse Arboricultural team with collective knowledge of over 100 years and will have to opportunity to experience other areas of Arboriculture should you wish.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out regular inspections of trees throughout Warwickshire.
  • Record and update tree information in our management system (training provided).
  • Plan and organise the inspections to meet the inspection regime.
  • Give advice and support to colleagues on tree safety and maintenance required.
  • Assess trees on private land that may pose a risk and advise owners on what to do.
  • Help develop and improve the council's tree management policy.
  • Help support tree planting projects and nursery operations.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and make decisions to keep people safe.
  • Work with the team to provide technical advice and guidance for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Someone who cares about nature and public safety.
  • Good attention to detail and confidence in making decisions.
  • Ability to work outdoors and on your own, as well as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills (training provided) and willingness to learn.
  • A recognised arboriculture qualification (certificate or diploma) to a minimum Level 3.
  • Knowledge of trees and their care.
