Job summary

SBFM is seeking an experienced Area Supervisor to lead field operations across Chelmsford and surrounding areas. You will ensure service quality, manage client relationships, and supervise frontline staff while coordinating with regional teams.

The role requires proactive leadership, IOSH Safe handling training or willingness to complete within 3 months, and a full UK driving licence with the ability to travel to client sites across the UK.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in a similar role.
• IOSH Managing Safely qualification or willing to complete within 3 months.
• Excellent communication skills.
• IT literate.
• Proactive, detail‑oriented and able to work autonomously.
• Full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of service delivery and client satisfaction in line with KPIs.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships at local level.
• Conduct regular audits and resolve issues to ensure cleaning standards are met.
• Line management, inductions and training of frontline operatives.
• Support mobilisation of new contracts through site visits, inductions and training.
• Oversee health & safety compliance across sites and ensure staff adhere to policies.
• Conduct stock checks and order cleaning materials/equipment.
• Cover cleaning and utilise existing workforce to complete site cleaning where needed.
• Support or cover other Area Supervisors’ areas when required.
• Ensure accurate records of visits, actions, and communications in IT systems.
• Collaborate with Regional Operations Managers and Account Managers for smooth operations.
• Respond to escalations from Operations Directors and senior management.
• Identify and elevate concerns, risks, or improvement opportunities.
