Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Trauma Specialist Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEMH setting in Keighley to support KS3–KS5 pupils with emotional and behavioural needs. The role is long-term with ASAP start and a daily rate of £100–£130.

You will provide consistent classroom support, build positive relationships, and work closely with staff to help pupils engage with education. Candidates should have SEMH experience, trauma experience, and strong behaviour management.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs.
• Experience working with young people who have experienced trauma.
• Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils is desirable.
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
• A patient, resilient and supportive approach.

• Are you an experienced Trauma Specialist Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young people with SEMH needs?
• Do you have experience supporting secondary-aged pupils who have experienced trauma and require additional emotional and behavioural support?
• Are you patient, resilient and able to build positive relationships with young people across KS3 to KS5?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist secondary SEMH setting in Keighley. The setting supports young people across KS3 to KS5 with social, emotional and mental health needs, providing an environment where pupils can access education alongside appropriate emotional and behavioural support.

The setting is looking to take on a Trauma Specialist Teaching Assistant on a long-term basis, supporting pupils across KS3 to KS5. The successful Trauma Specialist Teaching Assistant will work closely with pupils and staff to provide consistent classroom support, build positive relationships and help young people with SEMH needs engage with their education.

The successful Trauma Specialist Teaching Assistant will have:

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs
• Experience working with young people who have experienced trauma
• Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils is desirable
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills
• A patient, resilient and supportive approach
• The ability to build positive relationships with young people
