Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking dedicated staff to support young people in a safe, nurturing residential setting. You will help with daily routines, learning, and independent living skills while maintaining safeguarding standards.

Roles include early/late shifts, sleep-in duties, and alternate weekends with full training provided. DBS checks and safeguarding responsibilities are required to ensure a stable environment for vulnerable youths.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be 22 years or older (Ofsted guidance).
• Experience in residential care, youth work or education is desirable, but full training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of young people at all times.
• Build positive, trusting relationships that promote growth and resilience.
• Support young people with daily routines, learning and independent living skills.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, education staff, health teams and external professionals to support the creation of personalised care plans.
• Maintain clear, accurate records and uphold safeguarding standards.
