Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking a Residential Support Worker for Kyloe House Secure Children’s Home in Morpeth. You will provide compassionate care in a secure setting, support daily routines and learning, and work with education, health and external professionals to implement personalised care plans.

The role operates under a trauma‑informed approach, with a focus on safeguarding, development and building resilience in young people.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be 22 years or older (Ofsted guidance).
• Experience in residential care, youth work or education is desirable, but full training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent, compassionate care in a secure environment.
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of young people at all times.
• Build positive, trusting relationships that promote growth and resilience.
• Support young people with daily routines, learning and independent living skills.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, education staff, health teams and external professionals to support the creation of personalised care plans.
• Maintain clear, accurate records and uphold safeguarding standards.
