Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking a Residential Support Worker for Kyloe House Secure Children’s Home in Morpeth. You will provide compassionate care in a secure setting, support daily routines and learning, and work with education, health and external professionals to implement personalised care plans.

The role operates under a trauma‑informed approach, with a focus on safeguarding, development and building resilience in young people.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be 22 years or older (Ofsted guidance).
• Experience in residential care, youth work or education is desirable, but full training is provided.

Salary & Benefits

• Basic Salary: £29,542 – £32,046 (Band 5)
• Market Force Allowance: £5,000 p/a (Reviewed annually)
• Enhancements (Out-of-Hours): £3,030 – £3,286 p/a
• Sleep-in Shift Payment: £44.54 per shift

Enhancements apply between 8:00pm – 6:00am and weekends. Sleep-in payments are additional to the basic salary.

Useful Information

Working HoursAverage 37 hours per week, following a designated shift pattern including:

• Early and late shifts (between 7:45am – 10:30pm)
• Sleep‑in duties
• Alternate weekends and some bank holidays
