Job summary

Esland Care Grantham is seeking a positive SEN Teaching Assistant to support students aged 8–18 with SEMH needs. You will work closely with class teachers to deliver a tailored curriculum, often one-to-one or in small groups, applying empathy, resilience and a trauma-informed approach.

Experience with SEND/SEMH, EBSA and safeguarding knowledge will help you thrive in a supportive team. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm, with full enhanced disclosure and checks required.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEND/SEMH needs.
• Experience with EBSA (Emotional Based School Avoidance).
• Understanding of behaviour management and trauma-informed practices.
• Inclusive, empathetic, and solution-focused mindset.
• Ability to work as part of a team and build strong relationships.
• Basic knowledge of child development, safeguarding, and the National Curriculum.
• Confidence in using ICT to support learning.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with class teachers to support students aged 8–18 with SEMH needs.
• Deliver a fun, functional curriculum tailored to individual learning needs, often one-to-one or in small groups.
• Promote trauma-informed practices and empathy in daily interactions.
