Job summary

Esland Care in Congleton is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students aged 8–18 with SEMH needs. You will work with teachers to help learners access a broad, balanced and functional curriculum, including potential Forest School activities.

Prior experience with Forest Schools is highly desirable and you will join a team focused on making a real difference in children’s lives. The role offers progression, a comprehensive induction, and benefits.

Qualifications

• Appropriate knowledge of first aid.
• Ability to relate well to children and adults.
• Work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities.
• Knowledge of National Curriculum requirements.
• Effective use of ICT to support learning.
• Understanding of relevant policies, codes of practice and legislation.
• Basic understanding of child development and learning.
• Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and seek opportunities.
• Prior experience in supporting Forest Schools is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support class teachers to help students fulfil their potential and develop independence.
• Work with individual students or small groups to access the curriculum.
• Contribute to a safe, stimulating learning environment at a SEN school for ages 8–18 with SEMH needs.
