Job summary

Empowering Learning are recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to support primary pupils at a specialist education provision in Colchester. You will work with teachers, the SENCo and senior leaders to provide targeted support, help pupils overcome barriers to learning and develop academic, social and life skills.

We are looking for someone passionate about making a positive difference for primary-aged children with SEND.

Qualifications

  • Experience in or willingness to support primary pupils with SEND.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to primary-aged pupils with a range of SEND needs.
  • Support children who may have experienced trauma or adversity.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and support their learning, progress and wellbeing.
  • Assist with interventions and contribute to planning, assessment and monitoring of pupil progress.
  • Promote positive behaviour and model appropriate relationships and communication.
  • Collaborate with teachers, the SENCo and senior leaders; communicate with parents and carers.
  • Support pupils during off-site activities and attend meetings and professional development.
  • Maintain safeguarding awareness and child protection responsibilities.
