Job summary

Target Housing is a charity and registered social landlord seeking a compassionate Housing Support Worker to help residents rebuild independence and sustain tenancies in Rotherham.

You'll provide person-centred support, develop move-on plans, support with housing applications, benefits and income management, and work with partner agencies to deliver holistic support to vulnerable individuals.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting vulnerable individuals (housing or similar setting).
• Understanding of complex needs and trauma-informed approaches.
• Ability to engage and motivate people who may be hard to reach.
• Knowledge of welfare benefits and housing processes (desirable).
• Strong organisational and basic IT skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with residents.
• Deliver tailored, person-centred support plans.
• Manage a small caseload focused on successful move-on.
• Encourage meaningful use of time and independence.
• Work alongside external agencies to provide holistic support.
• Support residents to maintain and sustain their accommodation.
• Assist with housing applications, benefits, and tenancy processes.
• Liaise with local authority housing teams and partner agencies.
• Help residents maximise income and manage finances.
• Support move-on planning into more independent accommodation.
